Maria is through to the quarters at the Bank of the West Classic at Stanford as she defeated #5 seed Nadia Petrova of Russia. Maria won 6-1 6-2 in 1 hour and 1 minute. Maria put on a dominating display in the 1st set as she has wrapped it up 6-1 in 26 minutes. Maria was serving well as she won every point on 1st serve.
The 2nd set was a similar story to the 1st set as Maria took the set 6-2 in 35 minutes. In the last game when Maria was serving for the match, she didn't drop a point.
In the quarters to be played on Friday, Maria will play either #2 seed Venus Williams of the United States or Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia.
